This is where it all begins, where you join us on the first step of our journey together. You'll meet your friendly expert guide and we'll get the formalities out of the way quickly so that we can get out there and start enjoying the safari you've been dreaming of.

Not many travelers come to the delightful Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary, where forests carpet the hills. That means it's unlikely there will be many other travelers around, so you can enjoy listening to and watching plenty of birds along the forest trails, and possibly seeing lions and elephants, all in relative quiet.

Towering over it all is Mt Kilimanjaro (5895m), Africa's highest mountain: Kilimanjaro may be in Tanzania, but the best views are from Amboseli. At Elerai Camp, 12km southeast of Amboseli National Park, you can expect to see Mt Kilimanjaro whenever the clouds clear, including from some of the safari tents. Watch for elephants close by.
